Till now, web pages displayed its contents in default styles of browser. But, you can change the appearance of contents, like certain contents should get displayed in certain font and sizes with certain colors.

Use of <font> markup enables one to achieve it.

<font face="verdana" size="14" color="green">Hello</font>

The above statement will display "Hello" in verdana style. The size of the letters will be 14. The color which is used to display "Hello" will be green.

Almost all tags in HTML have got at least one parameter. For example, in the above font tag, face, size, color are 3 parameters to it and the words following = sign are its values. Parameters in tags are called as attributes in HTML convention.

We can make the text to appear bold, italic, under lined, strike through using <b></b>, <i></i>, <u></u> and <strike></strike> tags.

<b>Sample Text - 1</b>
<i>Sample Text - 2</i>
<u>Sample Text - 3</u>
<strike>Sample Text - 4</strike>

For making the text appear bold, one can also make use of tag.

<strong>Sample Text - 5 </strong>

Now, Type something lengthy with proper words and sentences in an html document. You will see all typed text in a paragraph. Here is the sample of it.

"It's just a beginning which you are all looking for. The new Programming Basics Foundation Library has everything which you need. The words itself says everything in a short form! It's your own passion and love for programming which of course drives you here. Program Development involves many things. It's not just a block of statements which are put together. It's actually collection of ideas put together which gives out something to you."

Like this, the text matter will appear.

Now, if we need to break them in to separate lines, put line break tag at the end of each sentence. Without line break tag, the browser will treat whatever text as single unit of matter.

It's just a beginning which you are all looking for. <br>

One can break up a group sentences to make paragraphs. The <p></p> tag enables one to do that.

<p>It's just a beginning which you are all looking for. The new Programming Basics Foundation Library has everything which you need. The words itself says everything in a short form! It's your own passion and love for programming which of course drives you here. </p>

<p>Program Development involves many things. It's not just a block of statements which are put together. It's actually collection of ideas put together which gives out something to you.</p>

You can also do this formatting using two <br> tags. But, it is not advisable in practical.
